Hi, I’m Joe Matzzie. Welcome to Studio Miracles.
I founded Studio Miracles to help film composers, producers, songwriters and other such music makers with software and hardware setup, consultation, maintenance, troubleshooting, educating and general problem solving.
I have experience and knowledge with a vast array of music software, both Mac and PC, but more importantly I have a proven ability to find solution within any piece of gear or application. I love working with and discovering new technology, and I love helping music makers to make their studio run faster and better, so they can get on to making the most inspired music possible.
I moved to Los Angeles in December 2007, after completing the Film Scoring program at Berklee College of Music. Before that I lived in New York City for 8 years, produced 4 CD releases by 2 bands,
and served as Music Director for various theater productions. Before that I earned a degree in Classical Guitar performance from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Some of the jobs that I have performered for composers:
Migrating studio from PowerPC-based Macs to Intel-based Macs. Upgrading, reinstalling, & authorizing Battery 3, Kontakt 2, Stormdrum 1 & 2, M-Tron, MOTU Ethno. Relocating iTunes Library and all sample libraries to external hard drives. Consulting client on how to streamline and economize all files.
Helping client to create a production setup which can be used from home as well as while on tour.
Creating automation element in the Environment section of Logic
Giving ongoing private lessons on Digital Performer, in rewire mode with Reason.
Using ProTools to edit a clients’s pre-existing dramatic score material to fit an award winning short film. While we worked, I introduced the client to the basics of ProTools, which he now uses professionally.
Via phone, assisting client to reestablish links between MOTU Symphonic Instrument and it’s source files.
Installing RAM (both Mac and PC, Installing harddrives, setting jumpers).
Installing Airport Extreme card (this was tricky, involving wires from the motherboard, in hard to reach places within a Mac Pro, but fun)
Troubleshooting a Yamaha O2R digital mixer
Transcription of 164-page symphony: all notes, articulations, & instructions, from paper to Sibelius… in the span of a week… while working another 9 to 5 day job.
Transcription of common pop songs from YouTube videos to lead sheets, to be read by an awesome house band on a national talk show.
Transferring music charts from pdf format to notation software, proofreading, setting tempos, etc., and the exporting to audio.
Via email, assisted composer to get Mac Leopard to recognize a new LogiTech Webcam.
Creating a custom javascript shopping cart, with multiple products, for a composer’s website.
